Fire destroys house on Dry Brook Road

On Friday, May 7, at 7:13 p.m., the Margaretville Fire Department responded to a report of a house fire at 5632 Dry Brook Road in Hardenburgh. When firefighters arrived on the scene, the property was fully engulfed in flames.

Crews ran multiple hose lines to extinguish the fire and keep it from spreading to the barn on the property or the surrounding woods. No one was home at the time that the fire was reported. There were no injuries to residents or firefighters at the scene. The family dog perished in the blaze.

The fire was brought under control by 11:30 pm. The structure was a total loss.

The Margaretville Fire Department would like to thank all the departments that provided assistance, the Ulster County Cause and Origin Team, and Delaware County 911.
