Middletown-Hardenburgh Fire District

The Margaretville Fire Department and the Halcottsville Fire Department together make up the Middletown-Hardenburgh Fire District, which is funded by taxpayers in the district, and owns the equipment for both departments. Each department has its own separate budget and leadership and does its own fundraising to supplement tax revenue. 

The Margaretville Fire Department responds to about 150 calls a year, including fires, motor vehicle accidents, and other emergencies, and provides crucial assistance for Margaretville Hospital’s EMS services, including setting up landing zones for medical evacuation by helicopter.
